Case Study: Measuring Energy Usage

Clipsal Cortex Meters are an example of the energy monitoring devices currently installed across all of Enliven’s dwellings to assist with tracking customer electricity usage.
This not only provides valuable insights into energy consumption but also empowers customers with the information they need to identify potential energy savings. Energy usage for Enliven’s customers may be significantly higher than average due to their reliance on Assistive Technology for controlling their environment and the additional charging requirements for equipment, making any savings a meaningful benefit.
Clipsal Cortex is our preferred partner for installing the Clipsal Cortex Meters. They offer a user-friendly app for each dwelling, which customers can download on their devices. This app allows users to monitor their energy consumption, track energy produced from solar installations and monitor specific circuits and air conditioning usage.
In addition to tracking energy usage, Enliven is working towards enhancing the renewable energy generation and energy efficiency of its portfolio. We’re equipping all new freestanding or single-storey attached dwellings—such as townhouses, villas and duplexes—with solar panels and inverters as a minimum and incorporating battery storage wherever possible.
Enliven is exploring additional technology solutions that can be integrated into the dwellings, such as more efficient hot water systems, solar and heat pumps, and provisions for electric vehicle charging. Feasibility studies are ongoing to determine the optimal time to incorporate these emerging technologies into new developments.
Enliven is also collaborating with home builders to develop a range of standardised housing designs. This approach is expected to enable Enliven to influence design outcomes, drive passive solar design through thoughtful planning of internal spaces and maximise access to natural light and ventilation. By standardising sustainability specifications, we aim to achieve more efficient energy outcomes and better inform our building partners on solutions such as waste management and material selection.
