WA was the first state in Australia to introduce Individualised Living Options (ILO), paving the way for greater flexibility and choice in disability housing. At Enliven, we’re proud to continue this tradition by offering SDA housing with innovative support and personalised care. In Perth, we have properties that allow you to ‘bring your own’ ILO support, ensuring your needs are met without restrictions.

Whether you’re looking for a vibrant community setting or a more independent living arrangement, we have a range of options across WA and our team is dedicated to finding the best one for you.

We offer SDA housing in the categories of Improved Liveability, Fully Accessible and High Physical Support. Explore our shared and independent SDA options in WA and experience the Enliven Housing difference.

SDA Housing FAQs in WA

SDA housing can include houses, apartments, and other types of dwellings specially designed for people with high functional impairment and/or high support needs. SDA provides options for specialised living environments that are necessary to address your needs.

Gain insights into what SDA can offer you through our SDA Housing guide.

To get SDA Housing, you must first be a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participant. Then check if your NDIS plan includes funding for SDA Housing. If you’re not sure, talk to your support coordinator. To be eligible for SDA housing, you must meet certain requirements:

  • You must be under 65 years old
  • You have high support needs or an extreme functional impairment.
  • You can provide evidence that SDA will help meet your NDIS goals and offer opportunities to develop your skills.

Try our SDA eligibility calculator to check more about your eligibility.

As an NDIS participant, you may be eligible for SDA. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIA) will assess your application based on three key criteria before proceeding with the process of applying for SDA funding:

  • Do you have an extreme functional impairment or very high support needs?
  • Will living in SDA meet your needs?
  • Is SDA funding reasonable and necessary for you?
    •

The NDIA will evaluate your goals and whether funding SDA is “value for money” compared to other disability-related supports. The NDIA will look at all the information they have when deciding what support you need.

Yes, you can live alone in your SDA apartment. You may also benefit from being part of our Community Cooperative, which actively encourages and supports people with disabilities to have choice and control over issues that directly affect them.

Check out our Community Cooperative model to see how we help you make the most of your NDIS funding and achieve greater independence.

Your SDA funding covers the actual property or the ‘bricks and mortar’.
Your SIL or ILO (Individual Living Options) funding pays for the people who deliver support and your daily living services to help you live more independently.

You can get these services on their own or at the same time. You don’t need to live in an SDA housing to get SIL support.

Check our SDA Housing Guide for more insights.

SDA offers a unique and higher-quality living option than traditional housing solutions. While other disability options, such as aged care facilities and respite care, provide essential support, they don’t usually offer as much independence and personalisation as SDA does.

Read our guide to understand the differences between SDA apartments and other types of disability housing. We’ll also explore why SDA apartments stand out as a unique and empowering choice.
