Many people aren’t aware they could be eligible for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). Funded through the NDIS, SDA is designed specifically for people with very high support needs or extreme functional impairment.

What is Specialist Disability Accommodation
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is purpose-built housing for NDIS participants with very high support needs or extreme functional impairment. It’s designed to help you live more independently with the right environment, supports and choice.
SDA is not a group home or institutional care. It’s a real home, built around you.
Here’s what you should know:
✔ You don’t need 24/7 care to qualify: SDA is for people with high physical or support needs — even if you don’t have full-time support workers.
✔ It’s designed to support your independence: With thoughtful layouts, accessible features and Assistive Technology, SDA helps you do more for yourself — comfortably and safely.
✔ It’s not “shared accommodation” unless you want it to be: You can choose who you live with or live on your own — it’s about your preferences.
✔ It can be tailored to your goals and lifestyle: SDA homes vary in size, design and location — they’re built to reflect different needs and personal choices.
