Who Is Eligible for Parkinson’s Housing Under the NDIS?

Who Is Eligible for Parkinson’s Housing Under the NDIS?

  • You are an NDIS participant
  • You have Parkinson’s disease that significantly impacts daily living
  • You require specialist housing due to mobility, functional or safety needs
Your current home cannot be modified to meet those needs
Your NDIS goals include independence or supported living

SDA funding is separate from Supported Independent Living (SIL). SIL covers personal supports, while SDA covers the specialist housing itself.

We can help you understand whether SDA may suit your situation and guide you through the process.

FAQ

Options may include SDA apartments, villas, shared living homes or other accessible housing depending on your NDIS plan and support needs.

Parkinson’s itself does not automatically qualify someone for SDA. Eligibility depends on functional impairment and the need for specialist housing.

“Assisted living” is a general term. SDA is a specific NDIS-funded housing category for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. SIL funding may also apply for in-home supports.

Many people with Parkinson’s live independently with the right environment and supports. Purpose-built accessible housing can significantly reduce risks and support long-term independence.

Enliven provides SDA housing across NSW, QLD, VIC, SA and WA. Availability depends on current vacancies and your SDA approval.
