Jennifer’s journey with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) spans nearly four decades, starting when she was just 27 years old. Now in her 60s, she reflects on her experiences and how finding the right accommodation has made a difference in her life.
“I realised I was living in an area that wasn’t suitable for me—too many hills, too many steps, too many steep ramps, no handrails—completely unsuitable for somebody like me” she shared.
This realisation prompted Jennifer to search for a more suitable living arrangement. Her search led her to Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), a concept she hadn’t even known existed until then. Jennifer wanted to keep her independence and saw with SDA housing she could do that.
“I definitely wanted to live alone,” she explained. “Enliven understood that. I’ve lived alone for many years and I’m happy that way.”
For Jennifer, the freedom to make her own decisions is invaluable. “I can make choices that suit me and not somebody else,” she says.

“I felt like I’d died and gone to heaven,” she admits. “It was just going to be so marvellous and just what I needed.”
